FUTURE TEXTILES EXHIBITION LONDON WESTMINSTER
A small exhibition showcasing technology and textile integration. This was my first exhibition I had attended about future textiles and even though it was small it offered so much inspiration to my project. I in particular was very interested in the work by Natsai Audrey and Lyndsey Coke on experimenting with materials and crystallisation. It appeared that collaboration was really important in visualising the outcomes of the research I had seen and was something I was interested in realising my project.
DE NATURA EXHIBITION LAKESIDE ARTS CENTRE NOTTINGHAM
A visit to the lakeside to see work by textile artists using biological artifacts. Use of digital printing and digital embroidery were some of the familiar processes I noticed. Here are some of my favorites.
ARCINTEX EVENT TIO3 RONSE BELGIUM
This was an event I was really looking forward to showing the latest work from PhD students from selected universities on smart textiles. It gave a real understanding to the current studies in smart textiles which included material meaning, thermochromic pigment in garment wear, tactile textiles to support dementia patients and textiles that tell stories through digital interfaces.
TU/E DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY UNIVERSITY EINDHOVEN
An exclusive look into Tu/e industrial design department and students work with smart textiles. I was absolutely amazed by the workspace they had and the work they were currently producing, with interesting ways of mapping out concepts and sample development.
DUTCH DESIGN WEEK EINDHOVEN
I only had a short time to visit Dutch Design week but managed to go to the Dutch Design Academy to see the graduate collection. There were some really interesting projects, very conceptual but extremely well executed. It definitely provided a wealth of inspiration for me to take back with me.
